Round Swamp

[ gramp051.jpg ]

Round Swamp is, as its name suggest, a round swamp and is a haven for bird life. It's right next to the road and this is one of those shots that just caught my eye as I was speeding past in the car. Having gotten out to take one shot I went on exploring and got a glimpse of what the area might have been like many years ago before most of the large redgums were cut down. Many large stumps (and fallen trunks) remain as reminders that the trees were a lot bigger.

This area is now well known for it's emus, with the drier conditions over the last 3 years reducing the the water level and bring the emus out from the thick scrub at the back of the swamp.
