Bemm River Rainforest Walk
The
Bemm River Rainforest walk is just off the Princes Highway and is a
good spot for a break from driving. This particular section of
rainforest is more open than other rainforest walks in the state and
does not feature the high, dense tree canopy. The rainforest is also
restricted to the river valley with dryer forests on adjacent
ridges, making the transition more obvious for the uninitiated.
As
with other 'rainforest walks' there are sections of sealed track and
boardwalks to make the going easier in the wet (and to protect the
forest from you) as well as two suspension bridges across a minor
tributary of the Bemm River.
I stopped by a few years later and tried a panorama from the
middle of the suspension bridge. It was a pretty dry summer when
this was taken but there was still plenty of green. This was
actually quite difficult to photograph as the slightest movement
would start the bridge swinging.

to reshoot with my new 8mm lens. |
